Deadwood removal and windsail reduction.

The safety of the trees above us is often the last thing we think about, until something bad happens...

At Parker Tree Service, we understand tree safety issues. Preventing a disaster, such as critical damage to homes and property, a tree's own destruction, or even injury to people, is easier than you might think.

Deadwood Removal

An important tree safety and maintenance procedure is the removal of deadwood by thinning out and cleaning out the tree. This thinning out also removes interior debris that can cause dry rot and is often the home for disruptive insect infestations. Overgrowth and the buildup of deadwood occurs without proper maintenance. Removing this inner debris allows a clean, solid layer of natural bark to form, which acts as a barrier and protects the tree from insect infestation and rot. A thinner and healthier tree is then less susceptible to disease, is less of a fire hazard, and is more aesthetically appealing.

Windsail Reduction

The buildup of overgrow branches is also a safety issue. In a strong wind, the tree canopy (upper area) traps the air and acts like a kite or windsail. The un-thinned-out tree does not let air through, and the wind will weaken the tree until it wins the fight with a strong gust.

But “windsail effect” can be minimized with proper maintenance, by thinning and reducing the upper branches in the canopy and thereby allowing wind to pass through, it reduces the tree’s overall movement in a windstorm, reduces constant strain on the truck and branches, and prevents the tree’s eminent structural failure.

Tree safety is very important to us. We’d be happy to have a look at your property and assess your situation with a free tree safety consultation.
